Suspicious vehicle stopped – Two arrested

Overnight Sunday/Monday 22nd/23rd May, a suspicious vehicle was intercepted by a police patrol in the Greengate Lane area and pursued towards Leicester.  The vehicle was later abandoned but due to good work by the police officers and the use of a police dog, two males were arrested.  It was discovered that the vehicle had been previously stolen and was using false registration plates.  A quantity of items in the vehicle are believed to have stolen and further enquiries are being made.

Burglary – Allington Drive

Sometime between Saturday 14th and 4.00am on Monday 23rd May, a house on Allington Drive (close to the footpath to Newton Drive) was burgled.  Entry was by smashing a rear patio door.  Two cycles were taken from an upstairs bedroom along with other cycle parts, two briefcases and other small items which appear to have been taken away in a duvet cover.

The two briefcases have been discovered in Watermead Park this morning.  The cases and their contents were dry, so it is believed that the burglary could have occurred overnight.

It appears that there has been  a spate overnight as similar incidents occurred in Anstey, Syston and Barrow on Soar.  In the Anstey one, a pedal cycle appears to have been used to get to the location and then dumped in a nearby garden.  Please check your gardens for any dumped bikes and report immediately to the police if any are found.

Between 11.00pm on Sunday 24th and 3.00am on Monday 25th April a house on Northfield Avenue was burgled.  Entry is thought to be via a small kitchen window and house and car keys were stolen.  The car was subsequently stolen from the driveway and has since been recovered.

(There as another burglary in Mountsorrel overnight where a grey Mercedes 4×4 was stolen.  Both of these vehicles were recorded going through a traffic camera in the early hours just two seconds apart and so it is highly likely that the burglaries are linked)
