Monday 23rd September 2013 Birstall Police ran a Fatal4 Clinic in the village.
This was as a result of the community consultations conducted over the past 6 months.
Fatal4 ran for 4 hours targeting driving offences that are known to cause the most deaths on the road.
During these few hours over 45 vehicles were stopped and 38 offences dealt with.
29 seat belts offences
9 mobile phone offences
1 no insurance ( vehicle seized )
1 Number plate that failed to conform
1 obscured number plate
I hope this sent out the right message to drivers that choose to flaunt traffic laws and that the people of Birstall feel reassured that we are trying to make the roads safer. Pcso 6611 Mark Butler is currently looking to set up a community speed watch within the village that the Neighbourhood Watch will take on and run.
