Police in Charnwood are currently taking part in Operation Entertain in order to target burglars in the area.
Operation Entertain is a multi-agency crime reduction and enforcement operation aimed at targeting burglars in the Syston, Thurmaston and Birstall areas.
As part of the operation police will be using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology to apprehend suspected burglars when using the roads as well as undertaking covert and overt patrols at targeted times.
Sgt Paul Harrison, Deputy LPU Commander at Charnwood Local Policing Unit said: “We are hoping that this operation will deter anyone thinking of committing burglary to think twice before doing so.  We are committed to catching as many criminals as possible both whilst we are involved in this operation but also in the long term.”
