ATM at Barclays Bank in Birstall attacked by burglars

Officers investigating a burglary at a bank during the early hours of this morning (Tuesday April 15) are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The incident took place just after 4am this morning at a branch of Barclays Bank in Sibson Road when a glass window was smashed and the ATM was forced open. A large quantity of cash was stolen from the machine.

Two men were seen leaving the premises in a Vauxhall Vectra which was later found abandoned in Rectory Road, Wanlip.

Detective Constable 4174 Clare Moore is investigating the incident, she said: “If you heard or witnessed anything suspicious this morning on Sibson Road please contact us.

“The car was found abandoned a few hours later and has since been recovered for forensic analysis, if you saw someone leaving the vehicle in Rectory Road, Wanlip sometime during the early hours of this morning then please get in touch.
