Incident on Sibson Road – 31/7/14

The following message has been received from beat officer, PC Dave Jaeckels:-

Just wanted to bring you up to speed in relation to the incident in Sibson Road yesterday as I am sure that if they haven’t done so already, people will be contacting you asking what it was all about!

It started as a pursuit in the City following a house being broken into and a car being stolen. The stolen vehicle was then driven towards Birstall where it was subsequently stopped following a collision in the Sibson Road area. Traffic Officers and a Police dog were deployed and the driver was arrested for burglary and driving offences. At the time of writing he is still in custody being dealt with by our Serious Crime Team.

I know that a few people took to spotted Birstall to make some comments and from what I have seen most of them were quite positive about the fact the car had been stopped and the suspect detained before any serious injury was caused to anyone.

Any damage that was caused / vehicles that were damaged as a result of the incident will be dealt with as part of the enquiry, however if anyone does have any concerns or information to add, please ask them to contact us on 101.
