Free Cash! Not a scam!

The Big Lottery Fund is joining forces with eight local newspapers across England to award £250,000 cash to community projects in each area.
The Local Paper initiative, which is being delivered by UK Community Foundation, is aimed at encouraging communities to think about how funding could benefit their area and bring real improvements to the lives of local people. Best of all, readers of the local papers will vote to help decide which projects will get the cash.
If your community has a great idea for how to spend a Lottery grant of between £10,000 and £30,000, Local Papers could be for you!
To apply for a grant you will need to be a community group, not for profit group, parish or town council, health body or school. You do not have to be a registered charity to apply. Groups must have a bank account that requires at least two people to sign each cheque or withdrawal and you must be in a position to use the grant within one year. Your project needs to be operating within the readership area of the local paper. The newspapers in question are:
Eastern Daily Press
Leicester Mercury
Grimsby Telegraph
Sunderland Echo
Lancashire Telegraph
Torquay Herald Express
The deadline for applications is 14th July. (Apologies for the short notice but we have only just been made aware of this opportunity today.) For more information about the funding and how to apply, visit http://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/global-content/programmes/england/local-papers
