Several burglaries & vehicle thefts this week
There have been several burglaries this week, usually when the occupants have been on holiday, but also when the house has not been properly secured. Please let your neighbours know that you will be away, so they can keep a watching eye on the property regularly.
One property that was burgled had not been checked for over a week, so the Police do not know when the offence took place.
There have also been thefts from vehicles, one when items have been left on view and another when the vehicle had not been properly secured.
Please ensure that you always lock your vehicle when not using it and remove all articles from view, otherwise you are likely to become a victim.

Suspicious phone calls
A number of Birstall residents have received phone calls claiming to be from BT and asking for information about their BT account, including how they pay and direct debit or bank details.
Never give your bank details or any other personal information to anyone who calls you uninvited.
If you are unsure about a caller then ask for a number on which you can call them back. This usually puts them off and you'll often find that they hang up.
Alternatively, contact the company on a number you know is safe - from a bill or the phonebook for example.
