Post boxes - Warning.
We have heard of some incidents locally in which post boxes ( pillar boxes ) have been partly filled with paper. This allows someone to return later and remove letters from the top of the pile through the slot.
If when using a post box, it appears to be full, please be careful and aware that your post could be removed by unauthorised persons.

New Birstall Police Office will Increase Presence and Visibility of Uniformed Officers
Birstall’s new Police office will be opened in October – this was the great news from Inspector Alcott, Commander of Syston Local Policing Unit which covers Birstall and Wanlip. At the Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator and members’ meeting on September 29th, Inspector Alcott said that a local Police base would allow his officers to spend more time on the beat.Located in the former council offices on Sibson Road (opposite the garden centre), the Police office will be a place where officers can go to complete paperwork rather than having to go back to Syston Police Station. This will allow officers to spend more time in Birstall and Wanlip, supporting the Police’s “Getting Personal” initiative.
New Co-ordinator HandbooksThe meeting was also an excellent opportunity to distribute the new handbook that we’ve produced for co-ordinators. Street co-ordinators are vital to the work of the Watch – it couldn’t exist without them – so the committee has produced a hardback file of useful information to help make their work a little easier. Co-ordinators who were not able to attend the meeting will receive their handbook over the coming weeks.
