Suspect vehicles - be on the lookout
Occupants of a Black Rover 620, reg L 39 JDP, are believed to be involved with distraction burglaries in Leics / Notts.

A flat bed truck E 446 MEG is suspected of being used to collect vehicles for scrap. Be aware if you see it in your area.

  • Red Ford Fiesta L 957 PTO
  • Green Laguna M 874 SVM
  • Green Ford Escort P 380 UEE - occupants believed to be selling quilts andconnected with distraction burglaries.
  • Black Renault Laguna N 866 URC
  • White Transit Van P 817 PUM
  • White Vauxhall Corsa N 902 XDU
  • Silver Transit - possibly with a roof rack and / or patterning near to the roof
  • Green Mazda MPV FD 04 GVC - suspect for burglary dwelling
  • Blue Escort M 713 GHP - suspect for Burglary other than dwelling
  • Green Nissan Almera ML 02 FTV - may be linked with distraction burglaries
  • Vauxhall Astra N 59 GKX - fake taxi.

Watermead Park - Incident on 27th June.
On the evening of Tuesday 27th June a large number of youths, from Birstall and Thurmaston areas, gathered on Watermead Park.
The police responded in numbers and six arrests were made, mostly for possession of 'home made' weapons.
The police are determined to crack down on this type of activity and have particularly asked us to circulate the following information:-

"It is believed that this incident was 'set up' using email and internet messages. Parents of schoolchildren are strongly advised to monitor or supervise the use of email and the internet by their children and report any concerns they may have regardless of the subject matter."

Distraction Burglars - Arrested.
Two men were arrested in Curzon Avenue yesterday, 20th June, in connection with distraction burglaries in this area.
They were caught 'Red Handed' with stolen property in their possession.

POLICE SURGERY.
Our Advice Shop on Saturday 19th August will include a 'Police Surgery' for the residents of Birstall and Wanlip.
Our beat officer, PC Jamie Hughes, will be available between 10.00am and 12.00noon to talk to any residents. A private room will be available.
Just call in at the former Parish Council office on the Sibson Road car park.

Suspicious Callers.
The police have informed us of the presence in the North area of two suspicious callers.

Two white males, aged early twenties, using a blue/green Rover car have been calling at properties asking about gardening jobs or asking to use a pen and paper. The police would like to speak to them about distraction burglaries in the area.

If you see these characters or they call at your home, please report it immediately on (0116) 2222222.

Distraction Burglary
Early this afternoon, Tuesday 6th June, there was a distraction burglary in White Horse Lane.

A white male aged 20-25yrs knocked at the door and asked the occupier for something, when she returned to the door her handbag was missing. He may have left the scene along Front Street or along the canal.

Did you see anything suspicious either before or after this incident ?
