Bogus Police Officers
There has been a burglary in Allington Drive (low numbers), during which the two men involved claimed to be 'plain clothed police officers'.

The incident took place on Sunday 17th December at approx 7pm - 8pm and the target was an elderly couple. The men were disturbed and made their claim when challenged. Both men were smartly dressed and stole cash and jewellery.

Were you in the area of Allington Drive / Worcester Avenue early on Sunday evening. Did you see anything suspicious ? These men must have had a vehicle somewhere not far away, did you see a suspicious vehicle around this time ?

Please report any information on (0116) 222 2222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, and quote CIS incident number 753/17/12/06. (PC 1654 Pritchard).

This incident is also being linked to two others of a similar pattern which took place in Rothley and Thurmaston during the last week.

Please ensure that any unknown, unexpected callers are asked to produce proof of identity. If in doubt, don't let them in. Speak to them through the window or letterbox, or ask them towrite to to you to make an appointment.

Advice Shop and Police Surgery
Our Advice Shop on Saturday 16th December will include a 'Police Surgery' for the residents of Birstall and Wanlip.
A Police Officer will be available between 10.00am and 12.00 noon to talk to any residents. A private room will be available.
Just call in at the former Parish Council office on the Sibson Road car park.
Tea and coffee will be available to all visitors to the Advice Shop and a mince pie to celebrate christmas with us.

White Subaru involved in phone box thefts
Please keep an eye out for a white Subaru car being used by criminals who use oxy-acetylene cutting tools to open telephone kiosk equipment and steal cashboxes.

Offences are committed between midnight and 5am.

Attacks have taken place in Coalville, Ibstock, Ashby, Measham, Swadlincote and Syston areas.

If you see the crime in progress, ring 999 immediately. Do not approach the criminals.

Any person with non emergency information is asked to ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

 
Distinctive van involved in high value theft
Please keep an eye out for the following distinctive vehicle which was responsible for a high value theft in the Rothley area recently.

It is a white Ford Transit van with a red bottom half bearing the registration G548 LWG.
