Doorstep Callers
We are aware that that there are 'Doorstep Callers' in the area offering security advice and selling burglar alarms.
Please be wary of any cold calling salesmen and check them out very carefully.
Our advice is and always has been, that if you are interested in buying, contact at least three known companies and obtain fixed price quotes.

Distraction Burglary - Warning.
This is a message from Harborough and Lutterworth Police concerning a distraction burglary which occurred recently in the Shearsby area.
A white male knocked on the door of an elderly gentleman claiming to be selling handkerchiefs and batteries. He was wearing a smart dark coloured suit and briefly showed an identity card to the victim before being invited in. Having gained access to the victim’s home he asked to use the toilet and then made an excuse to leave in a hurry.
After he had gone the elderly resident discovered that a large amount of cash had been taken from a sweet tin in his lounge.
To reiterate, the thief was described as a white male around 22 years of age, 5’ 10” tall and of slim build. He was smartly dressed in a dark coloured suit and was clean shaven. He spoke with a local accent.
We would ask that this message be passed on urgently to as many people as possible. If anyone matching this description is seen in your area or knocks on the door, please phone the police immediately on 999.
Your help is truly appreciated.
