Thefts from motor vehicles.
During the last three weeks there have been 10 incidents recorded of 'Thefts from motor vehicles' in the village. These incidents are widespread and cover all areas.
In almost every case items were stolen that were visible through the vehicle windows.
Please do not leave anything on show when parking or leaving your vehicle.
Thieves do not usually search vehicles on the chance that there might be something of value inside. These incidents only take a few seconds and are simply 'Smash-Grab-Run'. Why should they break into a vehicle that appears to have nothing of value in it, and risk being seen or caught?

Credit card scam
We have been made aware of a credit card scam involving telephone calls purporting to come from 'Visa or Master Card', which include asking for your security number.
We have checked with Visa and they have issued the following statement:-
Some cardholders have recently received e-mails or telephone calls claiming to be from ‘Visa’ or the ‘Visa fraud department’. Please be aware that Visa is not involved in these e-mails or telephone calls – this is fraudulent activity by criminals. Visa will never e-mail or telephone cardholders to ask for their account number or other card, personal or security details. We would remind cardholders that they should never provide their account, security or personal details in response to unsolicited communications claiming to be from any financial institution.
Please be careful. Never give any details of credit or bank accounts to any caller. Obtain telephone numbers from official sources, and ring them back if necessary.
